The Brazilian Academy of Neurology (ABN) is the largest and most important association of neurologists in Brazil. It was founded in the city of Rio de Janeiro on May 5, 1962 and represents Brazilian Neurology at the ""World Federation of Neurology"" and directs the Neurology session of the Brazilian Medical Association, at the Council of Specialties. It is based on the promotion of scientific development in Brazilian Neurology. ABN discusses broad subjects, such as the Medical Residency in Neurology and Neurology Teaching Programs at the Undergraduate and Graduate levels, in addition to being a forum for scientific discussion and subjects related to the professional activities of the Neurologist. It promotes the Brazilian Congress of Neurology and supports several others of neurological subspecialties organized by the respective Working Groups.
