The Estonian Society of Pediatricians and Eesti Lasteartstide Selts (ELS) is a charitable association operating in the public interest, on the basis of the statutes of ELS, which brings together doctors, pediatricians and other higher education specialists working in child health-related specialties, as well as legal entities who contribute to achieving ELS goals: • systematically promote the expertise of paediatricians • to intensify communication between paediatricians • to develop interdisciplinary cooperation • coordinate pediatric research • to inform the public about children's health problems, children's diseases and ways to prevent them • to develop health policy in the field of paediatrics and to participate in health care planning • control the quality of pediatric care provided to the general public Estonian Society of Pediatricians (ELS): o cooperates on an equal footing with professional societies and associations, research institutions and higher education institutions both in Estonia and abroad, and with legislative and executive bodies o organizes various professional and scientific and public enlightenment and educational events (incl. congresses, conferences, trainings, seminars, meetings), and charitable events o compiles and publishes books, collections, methodological manuals and information materials o prepares professional instructional material and organizes the certification of paediatricians o establishes regional departments and specialist sections o provides professional advice
