Italian Society of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology (or) Società Italiana di Immunologia e Allergologia Pediatrica (SIAIP) was born in 1997 from the Pediatric Immunology Study Group of the Italian Society of Pediatrics, which was founded in Palermo, during the National Congress of the Italian Society of Pediatrics (SIP) in 1979. Objectives of SIAIP are: • to have an internal organization that promotes the maximum synergy between the extraordinary skills at its disposal: from the numerous immunology and allergology researchers of international rank to the many allergists and clinical immunologists who have accumulated a wealth of experience and professional competence of inestimable value, to vaccination experts who have made essential contributions to modern vaccination practices, • putting their knowledge and skills at the service of all doctors, health professionals, patient associations and the administrative-political world to promote better care for children with allergic-immunological pathology. The aims of SIAIP are to spread the allergological and immunological culture; to spread awareness in the country of the clinical and social relevance of allergic and immunological diseases; to promote the 'information for parents and the general population on allergic and immune diseases'; the efforts of SIAIP must therefore be aimed at increasing the allergological and immunological culture not only in the scientific field, but also in the social one, taking into account the impact negative that allergic diseases often have on the health and quality of life of children and their families. For these purposes, SIAIP also uses communication tools such as the Journal of Pediatric Allergology and Immunology (RIAP) and the website which, in recent years, have been renewed several times to better interpret the new methods of participation, the request for information. of users and the new possibilities that the same communication tools today are able to offer.
