Latin American and Caribbean Association for Immunology (ALACI) now groups some 1 600 Latin American and Caribbean immunologists and almost all the Committees are represented of the IUIS. Goals of ALACI: • STIMULATE cooperation between groups on Immunology issues through the web pages of ALACI and the National Immunology Societies, formation of work networks, access to awards and subsidies, • ORGANIZE scientific education activities in Immunology through regional meetings and congresses, national conferences, workshops, and pre- and post-graduate courses as part of university programs, • CONTRIBUTE to the advancement of Immunology through scientific journals, publications, public campaigns and relations with groups from abroad to Latin America and the Caribbean. Vision and Mission of ALACI: To disseminate Immunology in our region as part of the IUIS vision of achieving an “Immunology without Borders” and to promote the dissemination and teaching of science through undergraduate and postgraduate courses, training of students and young researchers, and triennial scientific meetings. • CONTRIBUTE to improve Health in the region through the transdisciplinary and preventive nature of Immunology. • UNIFY the regional immunological community including associations or scientific societies outside the countries of Latin America. • HIGHLIGHT immunological events or achievements in the region. • CREATE a regional network of experts and scientists dedicated to interaction between Latin American groups. • STIMULATE members of working groups to make significant contributions to Immunology in the region. • IDENTIFY and consider inequities.
