Portuguese Society of Pediatrics (or) Sociedade Portuguesa de Pediatria (SPP) was founded in 1948, works on the protection and promotion of the health and well-being of the child, through excellence and defense of health care, education, research and support to members. It was the culmination of an idea by a group of Pediatricians who, for 10 years and little by little, had laid the foundations that would contribute to making such an achievement possible.

Values of the SPP: Transparency, professionalism, integrity, scientific rigor, resolutive and participative capacity, socio-environmental responsibility, sustainability, innovation and ethics. Thematic guidelines for the triennium:
• Growing healthy and preserving health: years of transition (nutrition, physical activity and the digital age)
• Chronic non-communicable diseases, pediatric origins of adult diseases and causes of Potential Years of Life Lost (PYLL): hypertension, consumption (tobacco, alcohol and other drugs), accidents and poverty
• Vaccines and antimicrobial resistance
