Spanish Society for Pediatrics Infectious Disease or Sociedad Española de Infectología Pediátrica (SIEP) is a non-profit Medical-Scientific Association. It is part of the "Spanish Association of Pediatrics" together with other Pediatric Societies and Sections. The purpose of the Society is: • Promote the development of knowledge of Infectious Diseases in pediatric age from fetus to adolescence, • Encourage the study and dissemination of diagnostic and therapeutic technical knowledge applied to Infectious Diseases of pediatric age, not only among pediatricians specifically dedicated to infectology, but also among other pediatricians and physicians with related activities, • Promote the establishment of Infectious Disease Units in Pediatric Departments and Services of hospitals, as well as the qualification of their personnel, • Organize, sponsor and promote conferences, courses, congresses and meetings organized by members of the Society, in order to disseminate and update knowledge in Pediatric Infectology, and of the Working Groups that are developed within it, • Stimulate, coordinate and plan teaching and research activities, nationally and internationally, in its specialized field of action, • Establish relations with the different Sections and / or Societies of the Spanish Pediatric Association, as well as with other national and international scientific societies, • Create and coordinate the Working Groups of the Section, • To elect the representatives in scientific and administrative aspects, in front of other companies or Public Administration, courts or commissions, when their presence is required, • Organize and carry out all those scientific meetings, publications and other actions leading to materialize the previous points.
