The Swedish Headache Society or Svenska Huvudvärkssällskapet was formed in 1968 as an association primarily for healthcare professionals who have an interest in migraines and other headaches. The purpose is to promote the development of knowledge and health care in the area of migraine and other forms of headache by arranging meetings, educational activities and supporting research. The society appoints representatives to the European Headache Federation - a kind of EU in the field of headaches - and to the International Headache Society. The number of members today is just over 100. There are representatives from as many as 16 different medical specialties and also physiotherapists, researchers, students and psychologists.
